Dear Friends, Clients, and Colleagues,
As 2025 comes to a close, I have spent time reflecting on how my perspective has evolved over the past twenty years and how I am thinking about the market moving forward. Much of that outlook has been shaped by the opportunity to continue working alongside my father and mentor, whose approach to business has always emphasized preparation, integrity, and patience over short term outcomes. That influence has played a central role in how I evaluate real estate fundamentals and how value should be understood and communicated, particularly on Lake Placid Lake, where context, judgment, and history matter. With the year now complete, Merrill L. Thomas, Inc. surpassed the highest sales volume in the history of the firm, with sales exceeding $180 million. This achievement is not about chasing totals, but about earning credibility, expanding market presence thoughtfully, and continuing to elevate how real estate is practiced throughout the Adirondacks.
One of my ongoing priorities is to continue earning the confidence of those who choose to buy and sell real estate in the Adirondacks so that when clients are seeking clear and reliable guidance, Merrill L. Thomas is the firm they choose. That trust is built on experience, sound judgment, and a more disciplined way of studying value, particularly for properties that do not behave like typical homes. Behind the scenes, we continue to invest in better frameworks for understanding how buyers actually value waterfront location, privacy, design, and setting, allowing us to explain pricing more clearly and support better outcomes, especially on complex lakefront properties. More on this work will be shared in the coming months.
Recently, spending time traveling in Italy with family and close friends offered an important reminder that exceptional places share common qualities, including stewardship, care, and a long view. That perspective reinforced my belief that Lake Placid stands among the most remarkable destinations in the world while still offering meaningful opportunity for sustained growth. As thoughtful investment and careful stewardship continue to shape the community, the outlook remains strong.
I am deeply grateful for the clients, colleagues, and community who make this work possible, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
